This 3D view of the Earth eclipsing the Sun is the result of numerical simulations combining satellite images of the Earth and algorithms for positioning the stars (Earth, Sun, stars) on the sky. On this March 21, 2022, the artificial lighting draws the contours of the American continent.

As an Astronomer (I got my Ph.D. at the University of Toulouse, France, in 2008), I love Nature : taking the time to look at the Sky, the Earth and the Underground, taking colored as well as black & white photographs of the beautiful region I am lucky to inhabit : the Occitania region, southern France.
